Neon Beat - 7.23.21
On the Neon Beat (Show 55R6) Steve and Eydie open our little jamboree with a Steve Allen composition called “This Could Be the Start of Something Big.” Next, a song by a man who sported one of the longer autographs you could get written on an album jacket. Mr. Engelbert Humperdinck sings “Winter World of Love.” We'll follow up with Petula Clark's “It's a Sign of the Times” and Nat King Cole with a 1957 song called “With You On My Mind.” Enjoy a couple of songs by two of the great period male groups: The Kingston Trio, and The Four Lads. We'll enjoy a touch of country with Glen Campbell and Bobbie Gentry singing “Morning Glory” and Tennessee Ernie Ford with his signature hit single, “Sixteen Tons”. Listen to a Broadway song from “The Pajama Game” performed by Patti Page followed up with a fun memory from Tony Orlando and Dawn. Our instrumental offerings include music by Nelson Riddle, Herb Alpert and the TJB, Pee Wee Hunt tickling the ivories with the “12th Street Rag”, and a lovely piece by Arthur Fiedler conducting the Boston Pops. Turn up an uptempo hit for Bobby Goldsboro as we tote-that-bale working on that “Muddy Mississippi Line.” Listen to Kay Starr's charming “Rock N' Roll Waltz” followed by Frank Sinatra singing, “Cycles.” Also catch a little Hank Williams hit song sung by G.I. Jo Stafford. Enjoy the music kids!
