The Neon Beat on Radio George - 12.26.18
On The Neon Beat this week: We open things up on Juke 1 with the theme from “Bus Stop” sung by The Four Lads. We’ll feature lots of other movie/Broadway selections including Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby performing a Cole Porter number from “High Society,” Jo Stafford with a lovely selection from “South Pacific,” Bing Crosby himself with a classic number from “Porgy and Bess,” Henry Mancini with “the Baby Elephant Walk” from Hatari, and Doris Day’s “Que Sera Sera” from The Man Who Knew Too Much. Ella Fitzgerald tackles some more Cole Porter with his signature song, “Anything Goes.” Love ya some Nat King Cole as he sings, “To the Ends of the Earth,” and “All Over the World” with the Ralph Carmichael Chorus. Enjoy the harmonies of the fine period groups like The Four Lads, The Four Aces, The McGuire Sisters, The Mills Brothers, The Lettermen, The Pied Pipers, the Chordettes with “Mister Sandman” and The Classics Four singing “Spooky.” Hang out for “a little breeze” listening to Peter and Gordons’s “Lady Godiva. Crank up the instrumental selections with Perez Pardo, The Al Casey Combo, David Rose’s “Holiday for Strings,” Dave “Baby” Cortez with “the Happy Organ, and the lovely “Cast your Fate to the Wind” by the Vince Guaraldi Trio. Swing with big band selections by Glen Gray and Benny Goodman. More chart hits with Dean Martin, Peggy Lee’s “Pass Me By,” Perry Como’s “Seattle,” Ketty Lester’s “Love Letters,” Johnny Mathis, Dionne Warwick and much more.
