On the Neon Beat Show 91R6: Vic Damone takes the stage as we launch another hour of the great standards listening to Vic sing “You're Breaking My Heart”. After that stirring opening we knock up the tempo with Sonny Boy doing one of his stabs at a rock n' roll recording with a song that was also done by Jerry Lee Lewis, “Dungaree Doll”. After Eddie we'll track two fine period groups as we listen to Ruby and the Romantics with “Our Day Will Come” and The Four Freshmen with their 1956 hit record, “Graduation Day”. Get set for some great big band as we spin Louis Armstrong with Bing Crosby doin' the “Muskrat Ramble” followed with songwriter Johnny Mercer singing with the Pied Pipers doin' a Johnny song, “Candy”. Then hear Tony Martin with a sweeping version of the song, “I Get Ideas”. We'll spin records by more great period crooners as we let Ol' Blue Eyes take the stage for “Too Marvelous for Words” and Tony Bennett with a song from “Bye Bye Birdie”. Listen to Patti Page with “A Simple Melody” and a great jazz treatment of “Deed I Do” by Diana Krall from her “Live in Paris” album. Hear songs by Ray Charles, Mama Cass Elliot, and Sarah Vaughan. Hear Berlin pianist Horst Jankowski with his 1965 hit song, “A Walk in the Black Forest” and enjoy a TV theme sung by actor Richard Chamberlain. The Theme from Doctor Kildare”. Good stuff! Just for you.
