On the Neon Beat (Show 58R6) Catherine Starks, otherwise remembered as 1950's pop singer Kay Starr opens this hour with a toe tappin' version of the song “Side By Side”. Then we bring in songwriter Johnny Mercer with the singers to do a song called “Personality”. Listen to Dean Martin as we sail “Under the Bridges of Paris”. Leroy Anderson leads off our instrumental offerings with a song used as the theme for the TV game show “To Tell the Truth”. Hear the Glenn Miller Orchestra with a swinging rendition of “Little Brown Jug” and turn up the orchestra of Paul Mauriat with the theme from “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”. We'll team up Bing Crosby with the Andrews Sisters for “Pistol Packin' Mama”. Then we team up Steve Lawrence with his wife Eydie for “Besame Mucho”. (with ensuing translation by Eydie). Enjoy Nat King Cole with a lovely version of a Charlie Chaplain song followed up with Sarah Vaughan singing a fine Gershwin standard. We'll remember that island of romance as we listen to “26 Miles” sung by the Four Preps. Next we'll play what was the first major charting hit song for Connie Francis. Then you can “Help Yourself” to Tom Jones. We'll spin a country-esk set with Patsy Cline singing a swinging remix of the song “Walking After Midnight” from the 1985 movie about the woman called “Sweet Dreams”. Glen Campbell is next with his 1968 hit record “Wichita Lineman” and then we'll wrap er' up with a fun 1965 memory by Roger Miller.
