The Neon Beat on Mixcloud - June 25, 2022

On the Neon Beat Show 85R6:  Oklahoman, Kay Starr launches into this session as we go “Swingin' Down the Lane” followed up by some spicy salsa with Perez Prado's Orchestra doing “Mambo Number Five”.  Next a stage and theatre piece with Mel Torme singing a number from “Guys and Dolls” followed up with some fun Rat Packin' with Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr.  We'll track more stage and film songs with the orchestra of Percy Faith performing “The song from Moulin Rouge”,  Frank Sinatra sings his 1959 hit “Love and Marriage”, Rosemary Clooney and her sister Betty sing the song, “Sisters” and Dinah Washington does the beautiful and reticent song, “September in the Rain”.  Swing along with some big band selections with the orchestras of Benny Goodman and Harry James.  You'll hear a selection by a Chicago man whom Frank Sinatra called, “the smoothest chops in the business”:  Lou Rawls sings, “Lady Love”. Dinah Shore sings “The Gypsy” followed up with The Vogues doing a great old Four Lads cover, “No Not Much”.  We'll spin the New Christy Minstrels with “Green Green” featuring the rustic voice of Barry McGuire.  More with Ed Ames, Andy Williams, and a 1966 signature hit song for Aaron Neville.  “Tell it Like it Is”.
