The Neon Beat on Radio George - February 11, 2013

On The Neon Beat this week, Jukebox 1: Frank Sinatra begins a latin set with "South of The Border" followed by Herb Alpert and The Kingston Trio. Hear one of the best ballad singers of the era singing "There I've Said It Again, " Mr. Vic Damone. We'll hear Kay Starr's, "Talking To The Man Upstairs." We'll play a great 1966 piano instrumental with Horst Jankowski as we take "A Walk In the Black Forest." Listen to a sultry Kris Kristofferson song sung by Sammi Smith, "Help Me Make It Thru The Night." Burl Ives sings "Little Bitty Tear." Hear Tony Bennett, Lee Hazelwood with Nancy Sinatra, Si Zentner, Engelbert Humperdinck, and more.

On The Neon Beat this week, Juke 2: Perry Como kicks off this hour with his 1956 hit with the Ray Charles Singers, "Hot Diggity." Then,the RC Singers follow with their 1960 chart topper, "Love Me With All Your Heart." Listen to Rosemary Clooney with a song from "The Pajama Game." Nat King Cole croons a lovely song called, "Tenderly." The Marvelous Marilyn Maye sings, "Make Your Own Kind Of Music." (make a joyful noise kids :) We'll play "Don't Sleep In The Subway" by Pet Clark. Hear Tony Bennett wtih Count Basie, Dean Martin, Fats Domino, The Platters and lot's mo.

On The Neon Beat this week, Jukebox 3: The McGuire Sisters open this set with their biggest chart hit from 1955, "Sugartime." The Ames Brothers follow up with a vocal take on the old Charlie Barnett hit from the big band era. Hear Dean Martin's "You're Nobody Til Somebody Loves You." Listen to Frank Sinatra with a song from that 1961 Swingin' Session album, "S'posin." We'll play a song from a cult film of the 1960's, "Valley Of The Dolls." The theme sung by Dionne Warwick.
