The Neon Beat on Radio George - 12.8.14

On The Neon Beat this week, Jukebox 1: Sarah Vaughan kicks off this great set with a good ol' jazz standard, "How High The Moon." Tony Bennett jumps in with a song about that windy city performed with Count Basie. Hear the Vogues with a working song called, "5 O'clock World." Listen to some folk performed by the Australian group, "the Seekers." Enjoy some spontaneous fun with Louis Prima and Keely Smith as we "Jump Jive and Wail." We'll spin what was a huge 1966 hit for Frank & Nancy Sinatra called, "Something Stupid." Vic Damone croons the lovely ballad, "Laura." Peggy Lee will sing a little diddy called "A Doodling Song." Listen to a lovely version of a song from "South Pacific" sung by Jo Stafford. We'll get light on our feet with Fred Astaire as he taps and sings a song from "Top Hat." Barbra Streisand performs a song she has described as one of her very favorites. "A Sleeping Bee." Nat King Cole and the trio play a great old Duke Ellington standard. Hear KC's Marilyn Maye with a jazzy seasonal version of "Mistletoe and Holly." We team up Frank Sinatra with Bing Crosby for a Cole Porter song from "High Society."
