The Neon Beat - March 31, 2022

On the Neon Beat Show 78R6:  Dean Martin takes centre stage for our first offering as we open with the song “Invisible Tears”.  Frank Sinatra grabs the mic next with one of his chart topping standards, “Strangers in the Night”.  Listen to Ella Fitzgerald with a Cole Porter selection  called “Everytime We Say Goodbye”.  Enjoy more great show tunes this hour including another Cole Porter song from “Kiss Me Kate” sung by the Four Lads, Louis Armstrong with the title song from “Mame”, and a haunting number from Ray Conniff from the film “Midnight Lace”.  Crank up Tom Jones' first major hit song from 1965, “It's Not Unusual” followed with Patti Page's female answer to the John Hartford song, “Gentle on My Mind”.  We'll team up the Lettermen for two songs for the price of one as they sing “Traces” and “Memories”.  We'll put a spotlight on the year 1959 culminating with a hit song from that year by Frankie Avalon. We'll spin Nat King Cole's “A Blossom Fell”.  Our instrumental offerings this hour include Joe Harnell at the piano, Al Hirt and his horn playing the “Bourbon Street Parade” from the French Quarter in New Orleans, and a song by Leroy Anderson used in the TV game show, “I've Got a Secret”.  The McGuire Sisters sing along with Lawrence Welk's Orchestra for “In the Alps”.  More with Paul McCartney, Anne Murray and an early 1970's hit song for folk singer Joan Baez.  Turn er up!  Listen at:
