On The Neon Beat (show 43R6) We open with a little knock-around folk with Tommy and Richard. The Smothers Brothers sing “Lark Day.” (by request) Then after a “brief” setup and introduction by Steve Allen, we'll ramp right into Benny Goodman's “Lets Dance” followed by Judy Garland doing “I Got Rhythm.” Harry James follows up with a big band rendition of “Carnival”. Then we fulfill another request for the classy baritone of Billy Eckstine. (airya go Max) We'll do some more folk with Jimmie Rodgers and The Limeliters. We'll open set two with Della Reese's huge 1959 hit song, “Don't You Know.” Frank Sinatra takes the mic next for “Nice N' Easy.” Jack Jones sings his Grammy Award winning song “Lollipops and Roses.” More with Doris Day's “Que Sera Sera”, Les Baxter with “Wake the Town and Tell the People”, Peggy Lee with “A Doodling Song,” and Mel Torme with some great show music by Frank Loesser. Much more in this extended edition of The Neon Beat. dig.
