On the Neon Beat Show 01R5: We open this hour with Ray Charles as he sings a little song that was to net him a little grief with a few religious fundemental audiences at the time. A joyous declaration called “Halleluja I Just Love Her So”. Perry Como takes the stage next with “The Girl with the Golden Braids” followed up by Petula Clark singing “Happy Heart” and the Lettermen with the beautiful vocal version of “Our Winter Love”. We'll track some more songs with great period groups like The Andrews Sisters singing with Bing Crosby doing a great Johnny Mercer song, The Brothers Four with “The Green Leaves of Summer”, The Association with “Never My Love”, The Beatles with “When I'm 64” and a popular period track by the Sunnysiders. Listen to Louis Armstrong with “Mame.” followed with a west coast jazz version of “Let's Face the Music and Dance” by Anita O'Day. Then Frank Sinatra performs his exit number, “I'll Be Seeing You”. We'll spin hit tunes by Johnny Mathis, Kay Starr, and Gale Garnett. Listen to Glen Campbell singing the hit John Hartford song, “Gentle On My Mind”. Instrumentals by Walter Wanderley, Michel Legrand, and a jazzy piano piece by Nat King Cole called “Whatcha Gonna Do?”
