On the Neon Beat Show 02R5- Ella Fitzgerald launches this hour with a lovely rendition of a 1956 song called “A Beautiful Friendship”. We follow Ella with a 1959 hit for singer Steve Lawrence doing “Pretty Blue Eyes”. Conne Francis takes it next with “16 Reasons” followed with The Crew Cuts with “Earth Angel”. We'll spin another great group with a hit song that was on MOR station playlists for years after it topped the charts: “Windy” by the Association. Get your Frank and Dean as Sinatra does a round of “Learnin' the Blues” and Dean Martin follows playin' the coke bottle with the song “Houston”. Listen to some fine period instrumentals with Nelson Riddle's Orchestra, the robust piano of Berliner, Horst Jankowski, Ray Anthony with the “Peter Gunn Theme”, Les Baxter with the “Poor People of Paris” and a lush offering by an orchestra led by “the great one:' Jackie Gleason. Rosemary Clooney sings some fine Hoagy Carmichael backed by the orchestra of Harry James. Jack Jones sings his 1963 hit song written by Burt Bacharach “Wives and Lovers” and Barbra Streisand sings a fun song heard in the Disney film “Pinnochio”.
