The Neon Beat on MixCloud - 2.5.22

On the Neon Beat Show 73R6:  The Dean of Swank, Dean Martin, launches the show with a song he performed in the film, “The Caddy”.  A song Jerry Lewis had written just for Dean to sing in the film. “That's Amore”. Then we let Frank Sinatra take the stage with the tune “Makin' Whoopee”.  Catch some more movie music with Doris Day singing a song from her debut film, “Romance on the High Seas”, Jo Stafford will sing a fun number from “My Fair Lady” and hear Glen Yarbrough with a hit song from a 1965 Steve McQueen picture.  You'll hear other women of song such as Sarah Vaughan with “Make Yourself Comfortable” and Barbra Streisand with a song you hear in the Disney film Pinocchio.  Enjoy some fine Nat King Cole as he sings “That Sunday That Summer” with the Ralph Carmichael Chorus.  Our instrumental offerings this hour include songs by Bert Kaempfert, Herb Alpert and the TJB, and The Ventures.  Listen to hit singles by the great period groups such as The Association with “Windy”, The Four Preps with “Got a Girl”, The Mills Brothers, The Fontane Sisters, and we'll rev it up with Ronnie and the Daytonas.  We'll track a wartime favorite with Al Martino remembering the lady of the lamplight.  We'll spin Sam Cooke's “You Send Me” and Louis Armstrong with “I Get Ideas”.
