On the Neon Beat Show 108R6: Nat King Cole filled the airwaves in 1962 with this country song with which we open the hour. Listen to Nat's version of the song, “Ramblin' Rose”. Next we track a little attitude with Peggy Lee as she sings, “Pass Me By” followed by a little “Mambo No. 5” by Les Brown and his Band of Renown”. (A name Bob Hope gave the band) Dig on some of our great women of songs as we play some Cole Porter sung by Ella Fitzgerald. We'll play “Little Things Mean a Lot” by Kitty Kallen, Sarah Vaughan sings “A Tree in the Park”, Judy Collins with “Both Sides Now,” and a hit song by Dusty Springfield. Get your Dean Martin as we spin “In the Misty Moonlight” and Frank Sinatra with his rendition of “They Can't Take That Away from Me”. Enjoy a sentimental show tune sung by the late Tony Bennett “Once Upon a Time”. Hear more songs from some of the great period groups like the Association, the Four Aces, and the Four Freshmen. More with O.C. Smith, Jimmie Rodgers and a 1960's hit instrumental by Raymond Lefevre, “Soul Coaxing”. Enjoy kids!
